Asked to specify the countries they believe Lithuania should cooperate most actively with, 62 percent of respondents specified Poland. Latvia and Estonia were picked by 57.9 percent and 52.3 percent, respectively.

Nearly half of those polled pointed to Germany and 35 percent to Belarus and the United States.

Asked about the least friendly countries that pose the biggest threat to Lithuania, 65 percent of respondents said it was Russia. Belarus was listed second (18.3 pct) and the US was specified third (5.5 pct).

The respondents were given a list of 16 countries and could choose as many countries as they wanted or enter their own version, the ministry told BNS. The poll of 1,001 residents was conducted last December.
