Lithuania’s chief of defence visits Ukraine

On Thursday Žukas, will travel to the International Peacekeeping and Security Centre in the Yavoriv training area to be informed about the implementation of the US-led multinational training program and to meet with instructors from the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Battalion.

The Lithuanian delegation will also visit the 142nd training centre of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces in Berdychiv to meet with Lithuania’s Special Operations Forces instructors taking part in the military training operation.

On Friday, Žukas is scheduled to meet with Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief General Viktor Muzhenko and Oleksandr Turchynov, the head of Ukraine’s National Defence and Security Council, in Kiev to discuss bilateral and multilateral military cooperation, the security situation and the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ reforms.

Around 30 Lithuanian troops are currently taking part in the military training operation in Ukraine.
