Lithuania’s liberals on popularity rise

According to the survey, the opposition Liberal Movement would rank second in terms of votes with support of 12.7 percent of those polled. The party’s popularity is on the rise – the ranks of its supporters swelled from 9.2 percent month-on-month.

The Social Democrats would secure votes of 21.5 percent of respondents, as compared with 22 percent a month ago.

The Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (conservatives) would get 9.3 percent of the vote, followed by the Order and Justice party and the Labor Party with 6.9 percent and 6.1 percent of votes, respectively.

As compared to the February survey, the conservatives’ popularity went up from 8.4 percent, while the ratings of the Labor Party and the Order and Justice party dropped by respective 1 percentage point and 1.5 percentage points.

Meanwhile, other parties would fail to cross the 5-percent threshold – the Peasant and Greens party would get 4.3 percent of vote, the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania would get 3.9 percent and the Greens party and the Way of Courage would be supported by 2.5 percent and 0.3 percent of voters, respectively.

Another 15.2 percent of respondents said they did not know the party to support and 12.9 percent said they would not come to polling stations.

The survey was carried out by public opinion and market research center Vilmorus.
