Lithuania’s MFA condemns terrorist attack in Kenya

Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-linked militant group based in Somalia, claimed responsibility for the attack. The group has carried out many attacks in Kenya in the past, including the attack on the Westgate shopping centre in Nairobi in 2013.

Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses sincere condolences to families and relatives of those who lost their lives, and to the people of Kenya.

“Acts of terrorism are unjustifiable under any circumstances. The international community has to unanimously combat this phenomenon and individuals contributing to the planning, carrying out and funding of terrorist acts must be brought to justice,” the statement reads.
