The matters were high on the agenda of the meeting of the party’s council in Telšiai, western Lithuania, on Saturday.
“So far, we have not developed a new candidate for president. I believe we will still discuss the candidate we could support as a party,” the Order and Justice party’s leader, MP Remigijus Žemaitaitis, said.
In his words, members of the council stated different positions on the matter, and no final decision was reached due to equal division of opinions.
The party’s council also approved top-10 lists for municipal councils in 30 districts and mayoral candidates for 23 cities and towns.
The Order and Justice party is yet to approve candidates for mayors of Lithuania’s largest cities.
MP Vytautas Kamblevičius has been elected as chief of the party’s 2019 election staff.
Lithuania will hold elections to local governments, the European Parliament and president in the first half of 2019.
The party currently has eight mandates in Lithuania’s 141-seat parliament.
