“After successfully completing its mission, the satellite, which has spent the longest period of time orbiting the Earth in the Lithuanian space history, has crashed in a region between Canada, North America, and southern Atlantic Ocean,” Vilnius University said.

Development of LituanicaSAT-1, which orbited the Earth 2,358 times, was started at Vilnius University in July 2012 and was launched from the NASA centre in Wallops Island, Virginia, on 9 January this year.

It started orbiting the Earth on 28 February along with another Lithuanian satellite, which ended its mission in May.
