The Vilnius Territorial Customs Office said that they were checking if the Lithuanian national needed special permits for the transportation of the stuffed alligator heads.
The man told the customs officials that he had bought the heads in a Miami store and intended to use them as presents.
The customs detained the stuffed heads on suspicions that the man, who did not have any permit to transport such “souvenirs” back home, had violated the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
