Mexico’s honorary consulate opens in Vilnius

“I am certain that your enthusiasm and activities will bring our countries closer together and will open up new opportunities for bilateral cooperation,” Eduardas Borisovas, director of the ministry’s Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department, said during the opening ceremony.

Lithuanians are taking an active interest in the Mexican culture and traditions, he noted.

Diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Mexico were established in 1938 and re-established in 1991. The Lithuanian embassy to the United States is accredited to Mexico and the Mexican embassy to Sweden is accredited to Lithuania. Ronen Waisser Landau has served as Lithuania’s honorary consul in Mexico since 2009.
