The foreign minister informed about the priorities of Lithuania’s Presidency of the United Nations Security Council in May and invited Japan to participate in the open debates on protection of journalists organised by Lithuania, the MFA said.
In the meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas, Sonoura discussed bilateral political relations, the dialogue between the European Union and Japan, the reform of the UN Security Council; Japan was invited to join the Working Group on Women and Democracy of the Community of Democracies. Germanas appreciated Japan’s support to Ukraine and called on its continuation in face of the conflict with Russia.
