Defense Vice-Minister Edvinas Kerza said three such teams were currently being formed in Vilnius, each consisting of 20 people employed in the field of information technologies.
In his words, specialists are currently checking credibility of the candidates to handle classified information.
“For 50 days a year, we will be able to invite them to train or conduct highly specific cyber protection operations,” Kerza told BNS.
“We are carrying out the experiment to see how the cyber security professionals joining the armed forces on voluntary basis can cooperate,” he added.
In the vice-minister’s words, the selection process will shortlist the candidates who could become volunteer troops and take a course of basic skills that takes a few weeks.
Concerns over cyber attacks have recently been heightened by the ransomware viruses, such as WannaCry.
