“We worked with Oganauskas at delfi.lt for a long time. He is a professional bursting with new ideas, he is reliable and loved by people on the team,” Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė told BNS on Friday.
Oganauskas and Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė went to school together and later proceeded to build the delfi.lt news portal from scratch. Oganauskas’ latest position is the head of the delfi.lt’s television branch.
Deputies of the LRT general manager are appointed by the LRT council, which also decides on the number of deputies. Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė says she is still undecided on other possible deputies. The nomination of Oganauskas’ will be discussed at the council’s meeting on April 17.
Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė was elected LRT general manager on March 20 and took office on Wednesday.
She took over the post from Audrius Siaurusevičius who had headed the national broadcaster for two terms from 2008.
LRT currently includes three television channels, three radio channels and a news portal. This year, state allocations to the national broadcaster stand at 36.5 million euros, which makes the bulk of the company’s budget.
