“The second round, and today’s voting day in particular, was rather calm as far as the police are concerned. We have received a total of 50 reports about various violations, much fewer than in the first round,” Malaškevičius said at a news conference.
“No pre-trial investigations had been launched by 7 p.m.,” he said, noting that 13 pre-trial investigations had been opened in the first round two weeks earlier.
Marija Štaraitė, head of Baltosios Pirštinės (White Gloves), a civic watchdog organization, also said that there had been several reports about major violations in the run-off round, but none of them had proved to be true
Voter turnout in the second round was 37.85 percent, traditionally lower than in the first round.
