“In the first place, I would like to dispel any doubts, uncertainties and ambiguous approaches and stress that Lithuania’s economy will be growing in 2015, 2016, and 2017 and it will be among the fastest growing economies in the European Union although the growth rate is predicted to be slightly slower,” the minister said.

Šadžius also underlined that the growth rate is not directly related to the budget revenue. According to him, the first two months of 2015 do not show any negative trends because the national budget revenue in January and February corresponded to 99.8 percent of the planned amount.

In late March, the Finance Ministry reviewed the economic growth forecasts. According to the latest estimations, Lithuania’s economy should increase by 2.5 percent this year, while the Seimas approved the budget for 2015 expecting the country’s economy to grow by 3.4 percent.
