OECD to decide on Lithuania’s accession next April – daily

Members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

“The OECD’s committees, numbering 21 in total, examine Lithuania’s progress and each makes appropriate decisions in its field on whether it can be stated that the nation qualifies to be invited to the organization,” Nicola Bonucci, director for legal affairs at the OECD, told the paper in an interview.

“To date, 17 committees have already provided their initial positive assessments of Lithuania and the rest are still examining the situation in their areas of responsibility. A final assessment of the candidate’s readiness to join the organization from all of the OECD committees is expected in February to April next year,” he said.

If all the committees give the go-ahead in April, the OECD Council will make its final conclusion in May, the official added.
