According to information available to BNS, the outgoing prime minister on Friday afternoon presented these candidates to the LSDP board, which approved their candidatures.
Other members of the party can also propose their candidates to head the three ministries.
The LSDP presidium will elect in a secret ballot later on Friday the party’s candidates for the ministerial portfolios in the coalition government with the Lithuanian Peasant and Green Union, which won the most votes in last month’s parliamentary elections.
According to DELFI the Social Democratic Party has also proposed Rasa Budbergytė as the Minister of Defence. The Lithuanian Peasant and Green Union had earlier suggested the appointment of the Minister of Defence should be a prerogative of the President’s Office.
