Around 390,000 people last year experience severe material deprivation, based on the results of an income and living conditions statistical survey.
The severe material deprivation rate for urban areas last year remained almost unchanged at 13.8 percent, while that for rural areas fell by 2 percentage points to 13 percent.
The rate for the country’s five biggest cities and towns was 12.7 percent, compared with 15.5 percent for other towns.
Single-person households with one or more children and single-person households were the most severely materially-deprived.
