The head of the party’s Information Center, Vidmantas Staniulis, told BNS Lithuania that the document would be signed by representatives of the party and approximately 30 organizations. However, he refused to specify them.
In his words, members of the organizations are already involved in the development of the party’s electoral program, and their members will run for the Seimas later this year.
“The legal status of the party will not be changed. This has nothing to do with the party’s willingness to restructure, and this is not done to avoid liability in judicial proceedings,” Staniulis assured.
The party’s leader, Rolandas Paksas, is currently being investigated regarding allegations that he accepted a bribe of €15,000. Last December, the Special Investigation Service brought suspicions against the Order and Justice party of trade in influence and money laundering in the framework of a large-scale probe opened in late 2014.
Another ruling party, the Labour Party, was also suspected as a legal entity. However, it was not sentenced as it was restructured into a new legal entity with its subsidiary, the Labourist Party.
