Over 100 Ukrainian soldiers treated in Lithuania

A total of 50 Ukrainian soldiers are expected to come to Lithuania for rehabilitation this year, the Ministry of National Defence has told BNS. Four troops arrived in the Baltic state last week.

The treatment and rehabilitation is provided by the rehabilitation centre of the war medical service in Druskininkai, a resort town in southern Lithuania.

Valentin Reznichenko, the head of the administration of Ukraine’s Dnepropetrovsk region, told journalists last week that Lithuania had been one of the first countries to accept injured Ukrainians.

The armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine, which broke out in April 2014 between Russian-supported separatists and pro-Western government forces, has already claimed more than 9,500 human lives.
