Over half of Lithuanian expats don’t think about returning home – survey

DELFI / Orestas Gurevičius

Only 40% of Lithuanian expatriates polled last fall said that they were interested in the possibility of returning to Lithuania, 17% said they were not interested and another 43% said it was irrelevant for them.

The higher percentages of those interested in returning to Lithuania were among respondents in Russia, at 61%, and 51% in the UK, potentially because of worsening economic conditions in Russia and uncertainty over a Brexit in the UK. This compared to an average of 43% among respondents in EU member states.

Vilmorus polled 1,720 Lithuanians living in 55 foreign countries between September and October 2015.
