“My wish for the party to prevent intrigues and chaos that lead to nothing. Today I do not fear to make a political decision that is adverse to me personally – I submit resignation from the chairmanship of the Labor Party,” Pinskuvienė, mayor of Širvintos, said in a press release after heading the Labor Party for just over six months.

She is stepping down a week after the party’s founder MEP Viktor Uspaskich has been accepted to return to the political force.

Elections to pick the party’s new leader are scheduled for February of 2018. Former culture minister Šarūnas Birutis will head the Labor Party until then.
