PM readying to visit Vatican

Tomas Beržinskas, the prime minister’s spokesman, told BNS that the meeting would address cooperation between the state and the Church, the role of the state in preserving sacredness of religious places and interests of believers.

Skvernelis will also invite the pope to visit Lithuania.

The prime minister is leaving for the Vatican on Thursday on a visit that will also include a meeting with the chancellor of the Holy See to discuss regional and security policy issues, support to Ukraine and response to humanitarian crises.

He will also attend a meeting with the leadership of the Order of Malta. Skvernelis is also scheduled to visit the premises provided by the Italian government to Lithuania’s new embassy in Rome and meet with the local Lithuanian community.
