Popularity of ruling parties and PM falls

Popularity of Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, his government and his party, the Social Democrats, has ebbed over the last month, opinion polls show

A month ago, Butkevičius enjoyed a positive rating of 44%, while 30.9% viewed him negatively. Currently, the figures are 40.2% and 35.3%, respectively, according to a Vilmorus survey commissioned by Lietuvos Rytas and conducted on July 1-10.

Butkevičius is still the second most popular politician, after President Dalia Grybauskaitė, but Ramūnas Karbauskis, leader of the Peasant and Greens Union, is almost catching up with him.

The balance of negative and positive ratings, 4.9%, puts the prime minister is in the tenth place overall.
