“Strong will and determination is needed to liberate from nomenclature practice of state governance. Forestry companies, regional road administrations, the Centre of Registers and other institutions that are part of the state system should cleanse of corruption and the tradition of hiring party fellows,” the president said in her message read at the start of the new spring session, which sill close at the end of June.

In her words, the parliament should also increase the efficiency of the public sector, therefore, the time has come to decide on limited number of terms for top executives of state and municipal companies and institutions, and these are the “decisions that will start a new phase in state governance.”

“You are the Seimas that was renewed the most. New faces may become a symbol of the start of a new era, which would be transparent, determined and bringing positive changes to Lithuania. Do not miss the opportunity that the people gave you. I wish you courage to change Lithuania by cleansing it of the remains of nomenclature-style governance. You cannot let your voters down, so go ahead and good luck!,” reads the message.
