Private investor will have to save Air Lituanica, PM says

DELFI / Šarūnas Mažeika

“The Government will not be investing and the future of Air Lituanica will depend on investors, if there are any. I have information from the Ministry of Transport and Communications that talks are taking place,” the prime minister told journalists on Wednesday.

According to Butkevičius, having a national airline is in the interest of the country.

Just after being elected as mayor of Vilnius, Remigijus Šimašius, member of the Liberal Movement, claimed he did not intend to close down Air Lituanica, but said that a private investor had to be found.

Members of the future ruling majority of Vilnius City Council agree that Vilnius can no longer sustain Air Lituanica.
