Ryanair to invest €180 million in Vilnius airport expansion

The airline will base an extra two aircraft at the terminal and will open new routes to Berlin and Malta and new winter services to Birmingham, London Luton and London Stansted which it says will deliver 1.5 million customers a year and increase its passenger numbers at the airport by 16%.

“We are pleased to announce our second Lithuanian base at Vilnius from October 30 with an investment of $200 million as we grow our traffic at Vilnius by 16%,” said Ryanair’s chief commercial officer, David O’Brien.

It also increasing flights from Vilnius to Milan Bergamo (5 weekly) with 15 routes in total and 46 weekly flights. The airline claims its expanded operations will support over 1,100 on-site jobs at the airport.

It will maintain the two aircraft it has based at Kaunas airport flying on seven routes including Bristol, Copenhagen, Dublin, Shannon, Eilat Ovda and London Stansted.
