Salary increases to require €120m from Lithuanian budget

Finance Minister Rasa Budbergytė has met with the Labour Party parliamentary group to discuss possibilities to increase public sector salaries next year.

“We can promise specific values only when we have clear budget figures. We will have these by the end of September,” said the Minister of Finance.

According to plans, the state will allocate over €7 million next year for the salaries of cultural workers, which were raised this July; €21 million will be needed after the increase of the minimum monthly wage, €24 million for teachers’ salaries, €35 million for wages of statutory officers and soldiers.
