“We discussed bilateral economic relations. Our business delegation would be very welcome and we agreed that it would be received. The king has already given his instructions to prepare for such a visit. They are interested in exports and imports, in textiles, food and other products,” Linkevičius told BNS by telephone from Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

“I believe that following this visit, our contacts will become much more systematic, including academic and student exchanges,” he said.

The minister underlined that his visit to the largest country of the Arabian Peninsula had started with a very important meeting with King Salman.

“We discussed politics and the situation in the region. Saudi Arabia is playing a very active role in bringing the crisis in Yemen under control. (We also talked) about our presidency of the UN Security Council and about issues that are important for them,” he said.

As par of his visit, Linkevičius is officially opening Lithuania’s honorary consulate in the city of Jeddah.
