In their group resignation, the trio said their step was aimed at “encouraging future changes.”

“Anything is possible,” Šimašius told journalists on Thursday when asked whether his resignation would come on Friday.

“The Liberal Movement is in need of fast and resolute changes. We have repeatedly and openly discussed this, and we still think that an essential changes is needed in the attitude of the party’s leadership on the situation and the solution – they have to be both self-critical and rallying others for future work,” Auštrevičius, Gailius and Urmonas said in their resignation.

“Being Liberals, we remain strongly committed to our party fellows, people with the same ideas and voters, therefore, we believe in true changes that will make us strong, determined and unified,” they said.
