The Rīga Conference 2019 starts today!

Today, October 11, at the National Library of Latvia world leaders and experts of international relations will be gathered together in order to discuss key security and policy issues. The conference serves as a forum for discussion where an exchange of views takes place on the international dimension. The conference is organized by the Latvian Transatlantic Organization in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Latvia.

The participants of the Rīga Conference 2019 will be welcomed by Mr Toms Baumanis, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Transatlantic Organization, while the opening remarks will be given by H.E. Mr Krišjānis Kariņš, the Prime Minister of Latvia.

The agenda for the first day will include panel discussions focused on the challenges of the European Union and NATO’s future defense strategy, as well as the role of the new regions of power in the international arena. During the Riga Conference 2019, 11 different panel discussion sessions will be held. The guest list is filled with ministers, ambassadors and policy experts from various countries.

The Riga Conference 2019 will be streamed online. The broadcast is provided with both – in English and in Latvian, and it is available on the LATO Facebook page and on the website of the conference.
