Tolerance center to be opened in Lithuania’s Ukmergė – media

The new center will unite the Lithuanian and Jewish communities, become a place for cultural and educational events and the presentation of both nations’ heritage.

The authorities of Ukmergė District, the State of Lithuania and the European Regional Development Fund have allocated funds for the reconstruction of the building, with work is scheduled to be finished as early as this year.

“First of all, this building is part of the Jewish history, so we are glad that it will be used by our Jewish community of Ukmerge,” Artūras Taicas, head of the local Jewish community, told the daily.
