Tourism accounted for 3 percent of Lithuania’s GDP

Compared to 2012, this figure increased by 9.5 percent. Last year, total tourism production amounted to LTL 6.4 billion (EUR 1.85 billion) with 41,100 employees working in this sector, or by 4 percent more than the number of total private sector employees.

Data from Statistics Lithuania shows that the number of foreigners’ trips to Lithuania last year grew by 5.9 percent, while the number of one-day trips to Lithuania increased by 5.6 percent. It has been estimated that a foreign guest during their stay in Lithuania spends an average of LTL 1,237 (EUR 359), while a local tourist spends only LTL 170 (EUR 49).
