Tuberculosis outbreak in Lithuanian school

Two female students at the eight form and a teacher were diagnosed with tuberculosis on Monday. The school has some 600 students and a teaching staff of several dozen.

Public health specialists say that tuberculosis is relatively widespread in Lithuania, with 50 cases per population of 100,000. For this reason, all newborns are vaccinated to prevent them from contracting life-threatening forms of tuberculosis.
