Unemployment rises in Lithuania as it falls across eurozone

During December, the eurozone unemployment rate dropped from 10.5% to 10.4%, or to its lowest level since September 2011. In Lithuania, unemployment rose from 8.4% to 8.5% in the same period.

Among European Union countries, the lowest unemployment rate was recorded in the Czech Republic and Germany in December, at only 4.5%. Malta had the third lowest unemployment rate at 5.1%. Greece is still suffering from the EU‘s highest unemployment at 24.5% with Spain following with its unemployment rate still at 20.8%.

Youth unemployment fell from 14.9% to 14.3% in Lithuania in December. It dropped slightly in Eurozone countries from 22.1% to 22% in euro zone countries while it remained unchanged in the EU as a whole at 19.7%.
