Viasat public relations chief Gediminas Galkauskas said the rebroadcasts would be stopped, as the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission‘s decision to suspend RTR Planeta’s broadcasts was made in accordance to procedures of the European Union (EU).

“The commission restricted the broadcasts of RTR Planeta in accordance to EU procedures and notified the European Commission and the control institution of the country where the channel is registered, consequently, Viasat wills top broadcasting the channel on the platform of its programs,” Galkauskas told BNS on Thursday.

The Lithuanian watchdog has repeatedly specified to stop broadcasts of a few Russian-language television channels over violations, and all rebroadcasting companies operating in Lithuania used to obey the instructions, with the exception of Viasat. The company’s representatives stated last December that it would obey the decisions, if they are communicated to the EC.

On Wednesday, the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission banned broadcasts of RTR Planeta for three months over instigation of war and hatred.
