More than a million passengers have already passed through Vilnius Airport this year, with passenger numbers up 17% in the first quarter of 2016.
The capital’s airport hit the million passenger mark two weeks earlier than last year.
“Last year we hit a million passengers in mid-May and that was a record but we improved again and hit that mark 14 days earlier. It is a great result – down to all the work we have done to increase and expand the number of flights to foreign destinations from Vilnius,” said Vilnius airport director Artūras Stankevičius.
During the summer season 19 airlines will be flying to 53 destinations across Europe. At the end of March flights to Birmingham launched along with improved connections to London, Stockholm, Tallinn and Antalya.
In June, two new airlines will start flying out of the airport – Germania to Zurich in Switzerland, and Vueling to Barcelona.
In autumn new flights from Vilnius Map with Wizz Air to Reykjavik in Iceland and Bari in Italy will launch as well as new Ryanair flights Berlin and Malta.
