“I plead not guilty on the charges. I committed no offence, a well-designed provocation was plotted against me,” he told the court.
Adomavičius is charged with demanding a 40,000-litas (EUR 11,600) bribe in exchange for helping a company win a 9-million-litas contract for waterworks construction and renovation.
The vice-mayor has said that the money discovered in his car were part of the budget for parliamentary election campaign.
Adomavičius was suspended from office for some time but later returned to his post.
