Voter turnout in Seimas election 87k up by 24k from 2012

A total of 87,278 voters voted on Wednesday and Thursday, which accounts for 3.5 percent of the electorate. This includes 75,000 who voted in municipalities, nearly 12,000 who cast ballots in special post offices and another almost 300 who voted at home.

Meanwhile, the respective figures in the 2012 election was over 63,000 voters or 2.47 percent of all voters, about 50,000 voters in early voting in municipalities and about 13,000 in special post offices.

Early voting has already closed, with voting in special post offices and at home continuing. Special post officers provide a voting opportunity for those in hospitals, social care and welfare institutions, performing their military service and held in prisons.

On the official election day, October 9, polling stations will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. local time.
