World Conference on Constitutional Justice opening Congress in Vilnius

The topic of the Vilnius congress is The Rule of Law and Constitutional Justice in the Modern World, the Lithuanian Constitutional Court said.

Five sessions will discuss differences of the concept of the rule of law in various countries, the role of Constitutional Courts in ensuring the rule of law, protection of Constitutional human rights and independence of Constitutional Courts.

The World Conference of Constitutional Justice is an organization of Constitutional control institutions from countries around the globe, uniting 110 Constitutional Courts and Councils and Supreme Courts in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia/Oceania and Europe. Lithuania’s Constitutional Court has been a member of the office of the conference since the organization’s statute took effect in 2011.

Held every three years since 2009, the congresses of the World Conference of Constitutional Justice are held in a different continent every time. The first was held in Capetown (Republic of South Africa), followed by events in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Seoul (Korea).
