Živilė Seporaitytė, communications coordinator at the Curia of the Vilnius Archdiocese, told BNS that youths are travelling to the Polish city both in organized groups and individually.
“Since Krakow is not far away (from Lithuania), some are travelling individually and do not inform us. Thus, I think the approximate number is 1,500 people,” she said.
Seporaitytė said that at least five Lithuanian bishops are taking part in the World Youth Day events.
Poland is hosting World Youth Day, a triennial gathering of Roman Catholic youth from all over the world, for the second time.
