“When he was 14 years old, his parents moved to Kaunas. And later, as a goldsmith, he had some problems with the police. Some accused him of counterfeiting stamps and other things. Fearing arrest and exile to Siberia he fled to America,” said Lithuanian cultural historian Vilius Puronas.
Puronas said Baranauskas was known in America by the name Victor David Brenner.
