The Jerusalem Post said that the plans to send him to Vilnius were announced by Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
The newspaper’s website titles the future Israeli ambassador to Lithuania as a veteran diplomat who has held diplomatic positions in Ethiopia, the United States and Turkey.
His designation is yet to be approved by the Israeli government.
Israel intends to open its first embassy in Vilnius in January of 2015. Currently, the country’s interests in Lithuania are represented by an ambassador who resides in Riga.
