Asset declarations reveal six millionaires among Lithuanian ministers

In their property declaration for 2013, Birutis and his wife specified they owned assets worth over 4.2 million litas (EUR 1.2m).

Other millionaires in the Cabinet include families of the justice minister, the interior minister, the agriculture minister, the defence minister and the foreign minister, show the annual declarations published by the State Tax Inspectorate on Tuesday.

President’s assets grew EUR 29,000

Property of Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaitė grew by 100,000 litas (EUR 29,000) over the past year.

Grybauskaitė’s assets are currently valued at 2,450,973 litas (EUR 710k), shows her annual property declaration published by the State Tax Inspectorate.

The president owns some 428,000 litas worth of real estate and 1,192,520 litas in government securities.

According to the declaration, Grybauskaitė’s savings amount to over 814,000 litas.

Last year, her assets were estimated at 2.34 million litas (EUR 0.68m).

Grybauskaite was this year elected for the second five-year term in office, she served as European commissioner before her first tenure.
