The lawmaker says that a new probe would be meaningless and would only lead to political chaos, adding that the Seimas should focus on implementing the recommendations of the NSGK’s recently-completed parliamentary investigation.

“Uncertain investigations, revenge leads nowhere. If the group’s leader goes on like this, I certainly don’t see myself working in that group,” Bakas told BNS on Friday.

The lawmaker said that he was not thinking about setting up a new group in the parliament as he still believes that Karbauskis will change his position.

The LVŽS group in the Seimas earlier in the day decided to conduct a new parliamentary investigation into interested parties’ unlawful influence on the political system between 2008 and 2016.

LVŽS leader Ramūnas Karbauskis said that a draft resolution would be registered by the end of the parliament’s current session and be put to vote in the first sitting of the next session.

According to him, all members of the group backed a new investigation and only three abstained.
