“Imports will be allowed starting this Monday [next],” said Jonas Milius, head of the Lithuanian State Food and Veterinary Service, after meeting with Aleksandr Subotin, Belarus’ deputy agriculture and food minister in Vilnius.
“There is an official document saying that fish shipments from all warehouses will be allowed, but their (Belarusian) representatives will have to be present,” he told BNS.
A new agreement on the admission of certain products, such as milk powder, feed and grain, which were banned due to African Swine Fever, was also due to be signed on Wednesday by Lithuanian Agriculture Ministry and Belarusian officials, said Milius.
In December last year Russia imposed a ban on the import of fish products from four Lithuanian companies, Viciunai ir Partneriai, Plunges Kooperatine Prekyba, Norvelita and Baltijos Delikatesai, and Belarus banned imports from these Lithuanian companies shortly afterwards.
