Daring tourists ‘step into the void’ at Eiffel Tower

The refurbishment work, the first in almost 30 years for this floor, began in 2012 and cost 30 million euros (USD 38 million).

Located 57 meters (187 feet) above the ground, the floor offers an experience of the void underneath that can be scary to some.

“I think the first few times we stepped on it we thought we were going to fall so we were walking as if it’s quite dangerous,” said Kiran, tourist from the United Kingdom.

Maria from Uruguy was equally impressed: “As if you were jumping into the void. I had vertigo and a lot of adrenaline. It’s really sensational, spectacular and wonderful.”
