Fortum Heat Lithuania Managing Director Vitalijus Žuta said he “could neither confirm nor deny” that the company has already submitted a formal proposal to take over the capital of the municipality of Vilnius heating network, but he did not deny that it interested the Finnish company.

“We are interested in everything that happens in Lithuania in the energy sector,” he said.

Vilnius Deputy Mayor Valdas Benkunskas confirmed that the authority had a number of meetings with Fortum on the issue and said the council was not against such a move but that a formal bidding process would have to be carried out in any such case.
