Former President Valdas Adamkus turns 89

The former president, who has always been open about his health, has been fighting cancer for three years. This July, Mr. Adamkus had a kidney removed and also underwent chemotherapy.

Adamkus was Lithuania’s president between 1998 and 2003 and between 2004 and 2009.
