“All four jets have already landed in the Siauliai aviation base,” Lieutenant Arnas Glazauskas, a spokesman for the Lithuanian Air Force, told BNS.
Denmark’s F-16 aircraft will replace the United States’ F-15 fighter-jets that have guarded Baltic airspace from the Siauliai military airbase since September.
An official changeover ceremony is scheduled for Monday.
The Baltic air-policing mission has been conducted from Lithuania and Estonia by various NATO member states on a four-month rotation basis.
At the Amari base in Estonia, Italy’s Eurofighter jets will take over the air-policing mission from a Danish contingent.
