Margvelashvili’s visit will be one of the first symbolic visa-free trips after a visa-free travel regime between the EU and Georgia took effect on Tuesday, the Lithuanian president’s office has said.
“The two presidents will discuss bilateral relations as well as Georgia’s progress on the path of European integration and reforms. Special focus will be placed on the security situation, measures to counter the Russian threat, and cooperation with NATO,” it said in a press release.
Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė on Tuesday congratulated Georgians on the introduction of visa-free travel to the EU.
In her video message, the president described this as “a major European integration achievement through Georgia’s consistent efforts”.
