Government to sign agreement with Football Federation

“We believe that the signing of the document will lay the foundation and we will be able to speak about a revival of Lithuanian football,” Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis told reporters.

“This is very important for involving children, improving their health and, lastly, achieving massive participation, which will help us discover talents for our future national teams,” he said.

According to the prime minister, the document covers a national stadium, a football academy and other infrastructure needed to make it possible for children to play football all year round.

Skvernelis said that the national stadium would be among the issues to be discussed with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin during his visit to Lithuania next week.
